Description

We are seeking experienced Travel Labor & Delivery Registered Nurses (RN) to join a high-acuity, fast-paced Labor & Delivery unit at one of New Mexico's premier teaching hospitals. This facility manages complex maternal and fetal cases and requires nurses who are confident working in large-volume L&D environments.

Travelers will rotate between Labor & Delivery and OB Triage and must be willing to float to Antepartum and Postpartum units as needed.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN License (NM license may pend at submission)
  • Minimum 1 year of Labor & Delivery experience
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Experience in a large Labor & Delivery unit/facility required
  • Strong fetal monitoring and labor management experience
  • Circulate for C-section experience required
  • Baby Nurse/Baby Catcher experience required
  • Meconium delivery experience required
  • Postpartum experience with competency level of 3 or 4 preferred

Certifications Required

  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • NRP (Must be obtained prior to start date)
  • AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced preferred
  • RQI certifications are NOT accepted

Clinical Skills Required

  • External & Internal Fetal Monitoring
  • Recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
  • Obstetrical triage
  • Breastfeeding and lactation support
  • Mother/Baby care
  • Episiotomy and incision care
  • Fundus, lochia, and perineal assessment
  • Dysrhythmia interpretation
  • Wound assessment and care

 

Unit & Patient Population 12 LDR Rooms 3 Operating Rooms 5 PACU Beds 7-Bed OB Triage Area Approximately 8 births daily 25 patient visits per day Patient Diagnoses Include Preterm Labor (PTL) PPROM Preeclampsia & HELLP Syndrome Multi-Gestation Pregnancies Substance Use Disorder IUFD Placental Abruption Post-MVA Observation Insulin-Dependent Labor Management Non-Viable Through Term Deliveries Specialized Procedures Experience with the following is highly preferred: Cerclage Version Procedures Cesarean Sections PPTL AROM Medically Assisted Deliveries C-Hysterectomy Neonatal Palliative Care Nitrous Oxide Administration Massive Transfusion Protocol Malignant Hyperthermia Management Scheduling & Call Requirements Patient Ratios: 1:2 Weekend Rotation Required Call Requirement:36-hour contract: 24 hours call every 4 weeks 48-hour contract: 12 hours call every 4 weeks Block Scheduling: Not Guaranteed Floating Required to Antepartum and Postpartum
