Facility: Carlsbad Medical Center
Shift: Nights | 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
Duration: 13 Weeks

Job Overview

Carlsbad Medical Center is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment. This position requires a highly skilled L&D nurse capable of providing comprehensive care throughout the antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and neonatal phases. The ideal candidate will be confident working in a Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) environment while supporting mothers and newborns through all stages of care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care for antepartum, labor, delivery, postpartum, and neonatal patients.
  • Perform comprehensive maternal and fetal assessments throughout labor and delivery.
  • Monitor fetal heart tracings and maternal responses to treatment.
  • Assist physicians and advanced practice providers during labor and delivery procedures.
  • Provide immediate postpartum care for mothers and newborns.
  • Care for nursery and special care nursery patients as needed.
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and treatments according to physician orders.
  • Educate patients and families regarding labor, delivery, postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care.
  • Respond appropriately to obstetrical emergencies and changes in patient condition.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in facility EMR systems.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure safe patient outcomes.

  • 3 Labor Rooms
  • 4 Postpartum Beds
  • Nursery & Special Care Nursery Support
  • Patient Ratios:
    • Labor: 1:1
    • Postpartum: Up to 1:4

Requirements

  • Active RN License
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience required
  • Minimum 12 months travel experience preferred
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from facility
  • No local candidates accepted
  • Strong experience in Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum care

Required Certifications

  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • NRP
  • STABLE

EMR Systems

  • MedHost (Inpatient)
  • GE Centricity (OB)
  • Athena (Clinic)

Schedule & Expectations

  • Night Shift: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
  • 36 Guaranteed Hours per Week
  • No Floating Required
  • No Call Required
  • Block Scheduling Not Available
  • 48-Hour Guarantees Not Approved

Dress Code

  • Any color scrub uniform permitted
  • No t-shirts or hoodies
  • Undershirts may be worn beneath scrub tops

  • $250 pushed-start fee may apply if onboarding requirements are not completed on time
