Registered Nurse (RN) – Intermediate Care Unit (IMC) / Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced IMC/PCU/Stepdown Registered Nurse to provide specialized care for adult patients with complex medical, cardiac, neurological, respiratory, and post-surgical conditions. Candidates must have strong telemetry skills, experience managing high-acuity stepdown patients, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced acute care environment.
Requirements
- Active Illinois RN License required at time of submission.
- Minimum 1 year of recent IMC, PCU, DOU, or Stepdown experience required.
- First-time travelers not accepted.
- BLS required.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) required.
- ACLS preferred.
- Must be willing to float within scope as needed.
- Every other weekend required.
- Cerner experience preferred.
- Teaching hospital experience preferred.
- Level I Trauma experience preferred.

Neurological
- Stroke (CVA) care
- Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
- Spinal cord injury
- Craniotomy patients
- Pre/Post neurosurgical care
Respiratory
- Care of ventilated patients
- Tracheostomy management
- Chest tube management (Pleur-evac/Emerson)
- CPAP/BiPAP
- High-Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
- ABG interpretation
- Non-invasive airway management
- Oxygen therapy and portable oxygen systems
IV Therapy & Medication Management
- Central line care and management
- PICC line management
- Peripheral IV insertion and maintenance
- Port access
- Arterial line management
- Blood product administration
- Phlebotomy
- Heparin protocols
- PCA management
- Procedural sedation administration
- Cardiac drip management and titration
- Vasoactive drip management and titration
