Registered Nurse (RN) – Intermediate Care Unit (IMC) / Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced IMC/PCU/Stepdown Registered Nurse to provide specialized care for adult patients with complex medical, cardiac, neurological, respiratory, and post-surgical conditions. Candidates must have strong telemetry skills, experience managing high-acuity stepdown patients, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced acute care environment.

Requirements

• Active Illinois RN License required at time of submission.
• Minimum 1 year of recent IMC, PCU, DOU, or Stepdown experience required.
• First-time travelers not accepted.
• BLS required.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) required.
• ACLS preferred.
• Must be willing to float within scope as needed.
• Every other weekend required.
• Cerner experience preferred.
• Teaching hospital experience preferred.
• Level I Trauma experience preferred.

• Continuous telemetry monitoring
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Rapid Response Team participation
• Post-cardiac angiogram care
• Pre/Post cardiac catheterization
• Pre/Post cardiac surgery care
• Post-MI patient management
• Sheath removal
• TR Band management

Neurological

• Stroke (CVA) care
• Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
• Spinal cord injury
• Craniotomy patients
• Pre/Post neurosurgical care

Respiratory

• Care of ventilated patients
• Tracheostomy management
• Chest tube management (Pleur-evac/Emerson)
• CPAP/BiPAP
• High-Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
• ABG interpretation
• Non-invasive airway management
• Oxygen therapy and portable oxygen systems

IV Therapy & Medication Management

• Central line care and management
• PICC line management
• Peripheral IV insertion and maintenance
• Port access
• Arterial line management
• Blood product administration
• Phlebotomy
• Heparin protocols
• PCA management
• Procedural sedation administration
• Cardiac drip management and titration
• Vasoactive drip management and titration
