Description
Responsibilities
- Perform clinical laboratory testing accurately and efficiently across multiple laboratory disciplines.
- Analyze and report laboratory results in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Maintain quality control and quality assurance standards.
- Operate, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation.
- Collect and process patient specimens, including phlebotomy as required.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and healthcare staff to support patient care.
- Participate in cross-training initiatives and assist in covering other laboratory areas as needed.
Qualifications
Required
- Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field.
- Certification as MT, MLT, or MLS (preferred based on applicable state and facility requirements).
- Phlebotomy experience required.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, instrumentation, and quality control practices.
Preferred
- Previous hospital laboratory experience.
- Experience in chemistry, hematology, microbiology, blood bank, coagulation, and molecular testing.
Schedule & Coverage Expectations
- Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- Weekend rotation as needed (typically every third weekend when fully staffed)
- Holiday coverage includes:
- Two minor holidays annually (Memorial Day and Labor Day)
- One major holiday annually (Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year's Day)
- Cross-training on night shift responsibilities may be required to assist with occasional staffing needs.

Laboratory staffing includes:
- Day Shift: 4–5 Technologists and 3 Phlebotomists
- Evening Shift: 3–4 Technologists and 2 Phlebotomists
- Night Shift: 1 Technologist and 1 Phlebotomist
The laboratory serves both hospital patients and outpatient clinics throughout the surrounding region.

Staff constantly switched. My documents weren't sent to the school, resulting in a months lost pay. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get on touch with anyone to answer questions. I have been attempting to reach them for over a month with absolutely no response! They lose paperwork (tests, immunizations, background checks and fingerprints) resulting in even more lost work.
