Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for the Adult Admission Unit (AAU), an Emergency Department holding unit located next to the ED. This fast-paced unit receives admitted patients from the Emergency Department and initiates inpatient care until patients are transferred to one of the hospital's progressive care units.

This position is ideal for nurses who excel in a dynamic environment and are comfortable managing frequent admissions, transfers, and varying patient acuity.

Unit Details

• Patient Ratio: 1:4-5
• Unit Size: 17 beds + up to 8 hall beds
• Diverse patient population across all specialties except ICU-level patients
• Fast-paced "turn and burn" environment with frequent admissions and discharges

Requirements

✅ Minimum 1 year of RN experience
✅ First-time travelers accepted
✅ Telemetry experience required
✅ Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias
✅ Strong time management and critical thinking skills
✅ Willingness to work relief charge as needed

Certifications Required

• BLS
• ACLS
• NIH Stroke Scale

Note: RQI certifications are not accepted.

Floating Requirements

Float within scope to:

• Adjacent ED admitted patient areas
• ICU for Sub-Acute Care (SAC) assignments
• Any inpatient Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
