Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job – Alabama, Dothan
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse
- Location: Dothan, Alabama
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Night shift (4 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Unit: 42-bed unit in a 400-bed Level 2 Trauma facility
- Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:6 to 1:7
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Alabama
- Telemetry experience with a minimum of 1 year, including experience within the last year
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- 7-year criminal background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Sex offender registry check
- Education verification
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Health Requirements:
- Physical exam updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year or clear chest X-ray if previously positive
- Annual 10-panel drug test (no instant/rapid tests) within 90 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination required for placements starting on or after September 15; no declinations accepted except approved medical or religious exemptions (facility form required)
- COVID-19 vaccination is voluntary
- Fit mask test within 12 months prior to start (specific approved mask models only)
- Required immunizations or titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap only required if working in Pediatrics
- References: Proof of 2 clinical references within the last 12 months (up to 18 months if necessary)
- Employment Application: Complete application or resume required
Facility-Specific Requirements
- APS Clearance (Shirley’s Law):
- Must complete and hand-sign APS Registry Clearance Form prior to orientation
- Form requires witness signature and date
- Clearance results must be on file before starting
- Photo for Badge:
- Passport-style headshot with light background, no nose rings
- Must be submitted within 72 hours of signing contract
- Preferred Badge Name: Confirm first and last name for badge printing
- Facility Modules:
- Must complete assigned facility modules by the Friday prior to start (deadline 12 PM EST)
- Modules completed through facility system; additional Apex trainings assigned for ER, CCU, and Neuro ICU specialties
- NIH Stroke Certification:
- Required for all RNs except Pediatrics, NICU, and Surgery
- Must be current within 1 year and renewed annually if expiring during contract
- Facility provides instructions and access after clearance
