Description
Job Title: Certified Sterile Processing Technician (SPT)
Shift: Days, 06:30 AM – 03:00 PM
Position Summary:
We are seeking a Certified Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) with a minimum of 3 years of experience to join a busy surgical services department. The ideal candidate will have strong sterile processing skills, pediatric tray experience, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment serving both adult and pediatric patient populations.
Requirements:
- Certified Sterile Processing Technician (SPT)
- Current sterile processing certification required (CBSPD, HSPA/IAHCSMM, or equivalent)
- Current AHA BLS certification required
- Minimum 3 years of Sterile Processing experience preferred
- Pediatric tray experience required
- Strong knowledge of instrument decontamination, assembly, sterilization, storage, and distribution processes
- Experience with surgical instrumentation and equipment, including:
- Arthrex
- Steris
- Olympus
- Other specialty instrumentation as applicable
Schedule & Call
- Shift: 06:30 AM – 03:00 PM
- Call Requirement: Required
- Approximately 6 call days per month
- 1 weekend of call per month
Unit Information
The Sterile Processing Department supports a diverse surgical population, including both adult and pediatric patients with acute illnesses, complex medical conditions, and emergent surgical needs.
Surgical Areas Supported:
- 4 Inpatient Operating Rooms
- 5 Outpatient Operating Rooms
- 2 Outpatient Endoscopy Rooms
Key Responsibilities
- Perform decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention standards and regulatory guidelines.
- Process and maintain specialty instrument sets, including pediatric trays.
- Operate and troubleshoot sterilization equipment and instrument tracking systems.
- Collaborate with surgical staff to ensure timely availability of sterile supplies and instrumentation.
- Maintain accurate documentation and quality assurance records.
