Description
Department: Medsurg/Onc RN - * * oncology (core staff to do chemo), no Onc provider in house current day * * *Certifications Required: BLS* PROFILE REVIEW+MANAGER INTERVIEW - # of Beds: 31 - Nurse:Patient Ratios: Days: 1:4-5, Nights: 1:5-6 - Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Adults and geriatrics, Strokes (stroke unit, some acute, but not thrombectomies), HTN, COPD, Cellulitis, CHF, A fib non RVR, Chest pain, MI after ICU, Cellulitis, AMS/ behavioral, some Tele, surgical overflow- no joints or cranis, everything else, * * oncology (core staff to do chemo), no Onc provider in house current day * * - Must have Experience: Ok first time travelers - Prefer experience with trach and BiPAP, not required. - Are RNs required to titrate drips? Yes - Common titratable &/or set rate drips Lasix, Heparin - perfer lasix experience not a must - Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? - Yes, Charge Nurse, a resource for both shifts, usually no assignment unless there is a staffing need - Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties?: Yes- 1:8 - RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot? BiPAP stable, trachs established with blow by oxygen - Are there tele/monitor techs on this unit? yes - Are RNs required to read their own strips? RN not required to read and interpret, they use tele packs, have a monitor tech for strips - Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) 0700-1930, 1900-0730, manager to make schedule - Will consider block scheduling if unit needs are met - Weekend Requirement: Every other - Holiday Requirement: As needed - Is there Call or a Standby requirement? no - Floating Requirements will float to other MedSurg units, if go to tele- a tele RN will do their strips, ER holds occasionally, no mom baby - Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs provided? No specific scrub color - How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: 1-2 shifts on the floor - Additional Notes Great unit culture and teamwork, family oriented unit, want travelers to feel supported Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity. RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions. Updated On: 1/26/2024
