Roles & Responsibilities – RN Telemetry

• Provide direct patient care to Med-Surg/Telemetry patients.
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and telemetry readings.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered.
• Monitor vital signs and respond to changes in patient condition.
• Care for patients with diagnoses such as COPD, UTI, cellulitis, sepsis, pacemakers, and post-surgical cases.
• Perform IV starts and maintain IV therapy.
• Collaborate with physicians, LPNs, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare team members.
• Document patient care accurately in the electronic medical record.
• Float to similar units as needed.
• Participate in charge nurse duties if assigned.
• Follow hospital policies, safety standards, and infection-control practices.

Required Qualifications

• Active RN License
• BLS Certification (AHA)
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med-Surg/Telemetry acute care experience
• Comfortable with telemetry monitoring and arrhythmia recognition
• Able to perform IV starts independently
• Willing to float to similar units
