Patient Population

Primarily Cardiac Medical & Surgical Patients:

Post Cath Lab

• Stents
• Pacemakers
• ICDs
• Watchman Procedures
• Mitral Clips
• TAVR

Post Cardiac Surgery

• CABG
• Valve Replacements

Other Common Diagnoses

• Atrial Fibrillation
• Chest Pain
• CHF
• Arrhythmias
• Syncope
• Bradycardia
• Temporary Pacemakers

Ratios

• Days through 2300: 1:4
• Nights after 2300: 1:5-6

Required Experience

Candidates must have:
✅ Recent acute-care hospital experience (2+ years)

✅ Post-cardiac procedure patient management

✅ TR Band compression device management

✅ Chest pain management

✅ Post-cardiac surgery patient care

Drip Experience Required

RNs are expected to manage and titrate drips.

Common Drips

• Nitroglycerin
• Heparin
• Diltiazem
• Amiodarone
• Lasix
• Bumex
• Dobutamine

No vasopressors used on this unit.

Telemetry

• 24/7 Central Telemetry Monitoring Department
• Tele Techs perform rhythm monitoring and strips
• RN should remain telemetry aware but does not independently monitor strips full-time

Support Staff

Charge Nurse

• Present on every shift
• Carries a modified patient assignment

CNA Support

• Days: 1:10
• PMs: 1:10-12
• Nights: 1:15 (or higher during all-RN staffing model)

Respiratory Therapy

Available 24/7:

• Nebulizers
• Inhalers
• CPAP
• BiPAP
• Vapotherm / High Flow Oxygen

RN Responsibilities:

• Incentive Spirometry

Scheduling

• No self-scheduling
• Block scheduling may be accommodated if unit needs allow
• Not guaranteed in contract
• Fri/Sat/Sun schedule option available

Weekend Requirement

• Every Other Weekend

Holiday Requirement

• Every Other Holiday

Call Requirement

• No routine call
• Possible standby only for extra shifts

Floating

• Float as needed based on census
• Within competency and skill set

Orientation

• 1 Shift HR/Facility Onboarding
• 1 Shift Unit Orientation
