Labor & Delivery / Birthing Center RN – Recruiter Quick Summary
Unit Overview
The Birthing Center is a Level I Low-Risk Maternity Unit utilizing:
- Single-Room Maternity Care (LDRP Model)
- Family-Centered Care
- Orem's Self-Care Nursing Theory
- Inpatient and Outpatient Maternal Care
Patient Population
The RN may care for:
✅ Antepartum Patients
✅ Intrapartum (Labor) Patients
✅ Postpartum Mothers
✅ Newborn Stabilization
✅ Normal Newborn Care
✅ Pediatric Patients During the Perinatal Period
✅ Cesarean Section Patients (Pre-op, Recovery, Postpartum)
✅ Clean Female Surgical Cases
✅ Therapeutic Abortion Patients (when staffing permits)
RN Responsibilities
- Comprehensive maternal and newborn assessment
- Nursing diagnosis and care planning
- Labor monitoring and fetal assessment
- Medication administration
- Postpartum care
- Newborn stabilization and routine newborn care
- Patient and family education
- Care coordination
- Documentation and evaluation of patient outcomes
