Travel Phlebotomist

  • Facility Type: Short-Term Acute Care Hospital
  • Staffed Beds: 325
  • Average Daily Census: 390
  • EMR/Charting System: EPIC

Contract Details

  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Contract Length: 91 Weeks
  • Shift: 5x8 Nights
  • Hours: 3:00 AM – 11:30 AM
  • Every Other Weekend Required
  • No On-Call
  • Must be flexible to work alternate shifts when needed

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of Phlebotomy experience
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • BLS Certification required
  • Washington Medical Assistant Phlebotomist (WA MAP) License required at submission
  • Pending license not accepted
  • Travelers living within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture using Vacutainer and syringe methods
  • Collect blood specimens from:
    • Neonates
    • Infants
    • Pediatrics
    • Adolescents
    • Adults
    • Geriatric patients
  • Perform finger-stick and heel-stick collections
  • Use handheld blood collection devices
  • Ensure proper specimen labeling and handling
  • Provide post-venipuncture site care
  • Transport specimens according to laboratory procedures
  • Maintain patient safety and infection-control standards
  • Collaborate with nursing, laboratory, and healthcare teams
  • Document collections accurately in EPIC
