Location: Robinson, Illinois

Shift: Nights (5:45 PM – 6:15 AM), rotating schedule

Job Summary

Provide cardiopulmonary care services according to physician orders and department policies. Assess, treat, and care for patients with breathing disorders. Perform therapeutic procedures, maintain patient records, and operate respiratory care equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct accurate respiratory assessments, including initial screenings and pain reassessments, tailored to patient age, culture, and psychosocial factors.
• Determine treatment requirements such as therapy type, method, duration, precautions, medications, and dosages.
• Develop and evaluate patient/family teaching plans related to pain management and discharge instructions.
• Monitor physiological responses to therapy (vital signs, arterial blood gases, blood chemistry) and consult physicians if adverse reactions occur.
• Prepare and administer respiratory medications, demonstrating knowledge of their effects and side effects.
• Perform cardiopulmonary tests (e.g., holter monitoring, cardiac monitoring, lung capacity tests) and adjust equipment for optimal therapy results.
• Maintain and clean respiratory equipment regularly; assist with equipment calibration.
• Complete accurate and timely documentation in electronic and paper records.
• Follow safety procedures to ensure a safe environment and reduce healthcare errors.
• Participate in performance improvement activities.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Illinois
• Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
• BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) Certification
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Certification
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) Certification

Preferred Skills

• Strong computer skills, including EMR navigation
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
