Registered Nurse - Behavioral Health

Location: Hickory, North Carolina

Job Overview

• Work in a Behavioral Health unit with 5 different units ranging in patient census (10 to 23 patients per unit).
• Patient population primarily adults with diagnoses including Schizophrenia, Dementia, Manic Bipolar Disorder, Psychosis, Dual Diagnosis, Medical Detox, Depression, and Anxiety Disorders.
• Typical patient-to-staff ratios vary by unit, for example:

  • 23 patients with 2 RNs and 4 CNAs
  • 10-20 patients with 1-2 RNs and 2 CNAs
• Electronic Health Record system used: Cerner.
• No call requirements.
• Weekly hours: approximately 36 hours.

Orientation

• Must start on one of the specified orientation dates between July and December 2026.
• Certification in either Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or Handle With Care (HWC) is required to be considered; training for Handle With Care may be provided.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
• Minimum 2 years of Behavioral Health nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or Handle With Care (HWC)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
