Travel Medical Technologist (MT/MLS) – Chemistry Laboratory | Nights
Location: Texas
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Shift: Nights (11:15 PM – 7:15 AM)
Schedule: 8-Hour Shifts, 40 Hours/Week
Weekend Requirement: Yes
Holiday Requirement: Yes
On-Call Requirement: Yes
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Medical Technologist (MT) / Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) to join a busy Chemistry Laboratory team on a travel contract assignment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in clinical laboratory testing, quality control, and instrument troubleshooting while maintaining the highest standards of patient care and laboratory operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform and evaluate quality control procedures to ensure accurate testing results.
- Conduct testing in Chemistry and Diagnostic Immunology.
- Process and analyze laboratory specimens including blood, urine, tissue, stool, and other body fluids.
- Perform routine and STAT testing accurately and within established turnaround times.
- Participate in proficiency testing and quality improvement initiatives.
- Troubleshoot and resolve basic laboratory instrument issues.
- Receive, process, and document laboratory specimens using Meditech and other laboratory information systems.
- Assist with validation and implementation of new laboratory methods and procedures.
- Train and mentor new laboratory staff on departmental policies and procedures.
- Participate in departmental meetings and workflow improvement projects.
- Provide on-call coverage as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field.
- MT or MLS certification preferred (ASCP, AMT, NCA, HEW, or equivalent).
- Minimum of 3 years of recent Medical Technologist experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
- Strong Chemistry laboratory experience required.
- Experience with laboratory information systems and automated instrumentation.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Submission Requirements
- Updated resume demonstrating 3+ years of relevant specialty experience.
- Must be local to the facility.
- Two recent Manager/Supervisor references within the specialty area.
