Travel Medical Technologist (MT/MLS) – Blood Bank & Clinical Laboratory | Days
Contract Length: 12 Weeks
Shift: Days (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM)
Schedule: 3x12-Hour Shifts
Weekend Requirement: Every Third Weekend
Call Requirement: None
Floating: Rare; within facility and scope of practice as needed
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Medical Technologist (MT/MLS) to join a high-performing clinical laboratory team. This role requires expertise across multiple laboratory disciplines, including Blood Bank, Hematology, Chemistry, Immunology, and Urinalysis. The ideal candidate will have recent hospital laboratory experience, strong blood banking skills, and prior travel experience.
Medical laboratory professionals perform microscopic, bacteriological, hematological, immunologic, and chemical diagnostic testing on blood, urine, tissue, body fluids, and other patient specimens to support accurate diagnosis and patient treatment.
Please Note: Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLTs) are not eligible for this position.
Responsibilities
- Perform and interpret complex laboratory testing in Blood Bank, Hematology, Chemistry, and Immunology.
- Conduct ABO/Rh testing, antibody screening, antigen typing, and crossmatching procedures.
- Perform transfusion reaction investigations and blood product preparation.
- Analyze patient specimens and accurately report laboratory results.
- Process and accession laboratory specimens while maintaining specimen integrity.
- Perform quality assurance and quality control procedures according to laboratory standards.
- Operate, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation.
- Maintain compliance with laboratory, hospital, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to support patient care.
- Follow infection prevention and transmission-based precaution protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field.
- Current ASCP certification (MT/MLS) or equivalent certification accepted:
- ASCP
- ASCP MT
- ASCP-BB
- AMT
- ABB
- Minimum 2 years of recent Medical Technologist experience.
- Previous travel experience required.
- Strong Blood Bank experience required.
- Experience in a hospital-based clinical laboratory setting.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Trauma Level I or Trauma Level II hospital experience.
- Experience performing advanced blood bank procedures and transfusion services.
- Strong background in hematology, immunology, and clinical chemistry.

Additional Information
- First-time travelers will not be considered.
- Maximum RTO: 7 days per contract.
- Travelers are expected to work designated holidays based on assignment dates.
- Full compliance must be completed before the start date to avoid delays.
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate.
- Clinical review and manager approval required prior to offer.
