Unit Overview

• 9 Private L&D Rooms
• 4 Triage Beds
• 12 Private Postpartum Rooms
• 2 C-Section OR Suites
• 900+ Deliveries Annually
• Average 2–6 Deliveries Per Day

Patient Ratios

• L&D: 1:2
• Active Labor/High Risk: 1:1
• Mother-Baby/Postpartum: 1:2–3 Couplets

Systems & Equipment

• EMR: Meditech Expanse
• Fetal Monitoring: Centricity (CPN/GE)
• Telemetry: Nihon Kohden
• Nurses are not required to interpret telemetry strips

Scheduling

• Every Other Weekend
  • Days: Saturday & Sunday
  • Nights: Friday, Saturday & Sunday
• Holidays rotate with permanent staff
• No Call Requirement

Support Staff

• Free Charge Nurse (may take assignment if needed)
• OB Techs/CNAs available
• RT available 24/7
• Pharmacy on-call after hours

Floating

• Required to float within all areas of the Birthing Center
• May float to other units for tasking/helping hands
• Candidates with prior Med-Surg experience may be assigned patients if needed
• No infectious patient assignments when floating

• 35+ weeks gestation
• Multiples/Twins
• Limited high-risk population
• No VBACs
• Rare GYN overflow

Orientation

• Brief HR onboarding
• 1 preceptor shift on the unit

✔ Strong L&D and Nursery background

✔ Comfortable with Mother-Baby care

✔ Must be able to circulate C-sections independently

✔ Team-oriented and adaptable

✔ Positive attitude and strong work ethic
