Position: Registered Nurse (RN) – Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
 

Job Summary

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse (RN) delivers specialized, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill patients with complex medical, surgical, cardiac, neurological, and respiratory conditions. The RN is responsible for continuous patient assessment, advanced hemodynamic monitoring, medication administration, operation of life-support equipment, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to provide high-quality critical care in a fast-paced environment.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
  • Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms, vital signs, laboratory values, and hemodynamic parameters.
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and titrate vasoactive drips according to physician orders and facility protocols.
  • Manage mechanically ventilated patients and provide care for advanced airway support, including ventilators, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen therapy.
  • Operate and monitor critical care equipment, including infusion pumps, arterial lines, central venous catheters, and cardiac monitoring systems.
  • Recognize and respond rapidly to changes in patient condition, including code blue events and rapid response activations.
  • Provide care for patients with sepsis, shock, respiratory failure, cardiac emergencies, neurological disorders, trauma, and post-operative critical care needs.
  • Assist physicians during bedside procedures such as central line insertion, arterial line placement, intubation, and chest tube insertion.
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, procedures, and recovery expectations.
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical record (EMR) documentation.
  • Follow infection prevention, patient safety, and hospital policies and procedures.
