ravel RN – Labor & Delivery (L&D) | South Dakota

🕒 Contract Options: 36 or 48 hours/week

🏥 Unit Overview

• 8-bed Labor & Delivery unit
• Level IIA Nursery
• Epic EMR
• Hospital-provided scrubs
• Free parking

✅ Minimum Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience preferred
• Candidates with 1 year of experience are only considered if that experience is specifically in L&D
• First-time travelers are accepted with Labor & Delivery experience
• Must live 100+ miles from the facility
• Former permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as travelers

👶 Patient Population

• Labor & Delivery
• Antepartum
• Postpartum
• Newborns
• Infants (<28 days old)
• Level IIA Nursery (care of sick newborns)

Preferred Experience

• GYN surgical patients
• Post-mastectomy patients

Candidates without GYN surgical experience may still be considered if other staff can cover those cases.

👥 Patient Ratios

• Laboring patients: 1:2
• Mother/Baby Couplets: 1:3–4

📋 Required Certifications

• BLS
• ACLS
• NRP

🎯 Required Skills

• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) interpretation
• EFM interventions
• Adult assessment
• Neonatal assessment
• Labor & Delivery nursing skills

👩‍⚕️ Unit Support

• Centralized fetal monitoring
• Lab available 24/7
• Respiratory Therapy available/on-call
• Charge nurse covers all hospital units
• In-house Hospitalist (Med/Surg)
• Nursery located behind nurses' station
• No dedicated IV/VAT team
• No dedicated L&D CNA (facility CNA available 24/7)

🔄 Floating

Travelers may float to:

• Med/Surg only as helping hands/CNA role
• Any assignment within their scope of practice

📚 Orientation

• Typically 1 week, depending on traveler experience

📅 Scheduling

• 36- or 48-hour contracts available
• Every other weekend rotation
• Low census (LOC) call based on census and rotation
