Description
Job Title: Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonographer
Job Summary:
The Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonographer works under the supervision of a qualified physician to perform advanced diagnostic ultrasound procedures for high-risk pregnancies. This role involves evaluating fetal development, maternal-fetal anatomy, and vascular structures using specialized sonographic techniques. The position supports diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing care of complex pregnancies in an outpatient/ambulatory setting.
Work Schedule:
- Monday to Thursday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Friday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- Contract Duration: 13 Weeks
- Weekly Hours: 40 Hours (Full-Time)
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform high-risk obstetric ultrasound examinations including:
- Level II fetal anatomy scans
- Fetal echocardiograms
- Nuchal translucency and first-trimester screenings
- Biophysical profiles (BPP)
- Fetal growth assessments
- Doppler studies (MCA, umbilical vein)
- Cervical length evaluations
- Assist with ultrasound-guided invasive procedures such as amniocentesis
- Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment safely and effectively
- Ensure high-quality imaging and accurate documentation of findings
- Review patient history, lab results, and prior imaging studies
- Communicate findings to physicians and healthcare teams
- Maintain patient safety, comfort, and confidentiality
- Participate in quality improvement, clinical discussions, and training activities
- Follow all hospital policies, infection control, and HIPAA regulations
- Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked sonography work areas
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Completion of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program
- Minimum 1 year of experience in high-risk OB/GYN ultrasound (hospital or MFM setting)
- ARDMS certification in OB/GYN
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
