Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT/MT) – Travel Assignment
Start Date: Late September/Early October 2026
Shift: Days | 4x10-Hour Shifts (6:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
Schedule: Wednesday – Saturday (Block Scheduling Available)
Assignment Length: 13 Weeks
Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Technologist (MT) for a travel assignment at a 56-bed rehabilitation and LTACH/ICU facility. The ideal candidate will perform a variety of laboratory testing procedures to assist physicians in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.
This is an excellent opportunity for first-time travelers looking to gain valuable experience in a supportive clinical environment using Epic charting.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine and complex laboratory testing on blood, urine, tissue, stool, body fluids, and other specimens.
- Conduct hematology, chemistry, microbiology, immunology, and urinalysis testing.
- Operate, calibrate, and troubleshoot automated laboratory analyzers.
- Perform manual differentials and microscopic urinalysis.
- Ensure quality assurance and quality control standards are maintained.
- Collect, accession, transport, process, and analyze specimens accurately.
- Report laboratory results promptly and accurately.
- Follow laboratory safety protocols and infection prevention guidelines.
- Maintain accurate documentation using Epic electronic medical records.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of recent Medical Laboratory experience.
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
- Current certification through one of the following:
- ASCP
- ASCP-MLT
- ASCP-MT
- State license (pending license accepted; processing may take 10–12 weeks).

Schedule & Call
- Day Shift: 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Wednesday – Saturday
- No on-call requirements
- No floating required within scope
- Block scheduling available
- Every Saturday required
- Guaranteed 70 hours every two weeks (facility may call off one 10-hour shift per pay period)
Traveler Requirements
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility (no local candidates).
- Two professional references required during compliance.
- Experience with Epic preferred.
- Must be willing to work 2 of the 3 major holidays:
- Thanksgiving
- Christmas
- New Year's
Additional Information
- COVID-19 vaccination not required.
- Hepatitis B vaccination required (titers or declination not accepted).
- Pre-start education modules are required (approximately 16 hours, non-billable).
- Housing in the area may be limited—travelers are encouraged to arrange accommodations early.
