Description
Registered Nurse (RN) – Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Location: 2220 N. Druid Hills Road, Atlanta, GA 30329
- Schedule: Nights, 3 x 12-hour shifts (36 hours/week)
- Weekend Schedule: Blocked Nights – Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse (RN) to provide specialized, compassionate care for critically ill and premature newborns in a Level IV/Surgical NICU. The ideal candidate will have experience managing high-acuity neonatal patients and collaborating with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to deliver exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill and premature neonates in a Level IV NICU.
- Continuously assess, monitor, and document patient conditions, responding promptly to changes in clinical status.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and specialized neonatal treatments according to physician orders.
- Assist with pre-operative, peri-operative, and post-operative care for neonatal surgical patients.
- Operate and monitor advanced life-support equipment, including ventilators, CPAP, and high-frequency ventilation systems.
- Collaborate with neonatologists, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Educate and support parents and families regarding patient conditions, treatments, and discharge planning.
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records while ensuring compliance with hospital policies and patient safety standards.
- Float to other units as assigned based on staffing needs.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Recent Level IV/Surgical NICU experience required.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – Required.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Preferred.
- Must be willing to float to other units as needed.
- Must work at least one holiday if it falls during the contract.
Preferred Clinical Experience
Experience caring for neonates with:
- Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH)
- Meconium Aspiration Syndrome (MAS)
- Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC)
- Tracheoesophageal Fistula/Esophageal Atresia (TEF/EA)
- Abdominal wall defects
- Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia (BPD)
- Pulmonary Hypertension
- Pre-operative, peri-operative, and post-operative neonatal care
Facility Requirements
- Nicotine-Free Facility
- Nicotine testing is required along with the pre-employment drug screen (no exceptions).
- Influenza vaccination is mandatory during flu season.
