Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Department (ED)
Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Department (ED) provides immediate, high-quality nursing care to patients experiencing acute illnesses, injuries, and medical emergencies. The ED RN rapidly assesses patient conditions, prioritizes care based on acuity, administers treatments, and collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to ensure timely, safe, and effective patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform rapid patient assessments and prioritize care using triage principles.
- Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions throughout the course of treatment.
- Administer medications, IV therapy, blood products, and emergency treatments as prescribed.
- Assist physicians during emergency procedures, trauma resuscitations, and critical care interventions.
- Operate and monitor medical equipment including cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, and defibrillators.
- Recognize changes in patient condition and respond appropriately to emergencies.
- Collect laboratory specimens and assist with diagnostic testing.
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, radiology, laboratory, and other healthcare professionals.
- Adhere to infection control, patient safety, and hospital policies and procedures.
