Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical / Telemetry

Location: Acute Care Hospital
Unit: Med Surg / Telemetry – 2 West
Shift: Nights | 12-Hour Shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
 

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Travel Registered Nurse (RN) to join a busy Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit. This is an excellent opportunity for nurses with strong acute care and telemetry experience who are comfortable caring for a diverse adult patient population.
 

Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage (typically 2 of 3 major holidays)
• Floating required to Med Surg, low-acuity ICU, RDU, and Foothills Clinic RDU as needed
• No blocked scheduling requests
• Maximum of 5 days of requested time off (RTO)

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adult medical-surgical and telemetry patients
• Assess, monitor, and document patient conditions using Epic EMR
• Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders
• Care for patients with diagnoses including pneumonia, COPD, acute kidney injury (AKI), post-operative laparoscopic cholecystectomy, appendectomy, and other medical conditions
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes

Unit Details

• Unit: 2 West – Medical Surgical/Telemetry
• Beds: 90 (double occupancy)
• Patient Ratios:
  • Days: 1:5–6
  • Nights: 1:6
• Dedicated telemetry monitor technicians (travelers are not required to interpret telemetry)
• Patient Care Assistants available
• Respiratory equipment includes BiPAP and stable tracheostomy care

Requirements

• Active RN License (required at submission)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• Minimum 1 year of recent Medical Surgical/Telemetry experience
• Recent Trauma Level I or II hospital experience required
• Epic EMR proficiency (recent experience required)
• BLS Certification (required)
• ACLS Certification (preferred)

Additional Information

• Start dates are not flexible
• 100-mile radius rule applies (local candidates are not eligible)
• No 48-hour guarantees
• One day of nursing orientation, one clinical education/Epic training day, and one floor orientation day
• Navy blue scrubs required
