Unit: E100 – Medical Surgical/Telemetry
Shift: Days | 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
 

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Travel Registered Nurse (RN) for a Medical Surgical/Telemetry assignment at Catholic Medical Center. This position is ideal for nurses with strong Med Surg/Tele experience who are comfortable caring for a diverse adult patient population in a collaborative, patient-focused environment.

Schedule

• Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• 12-hour shifts preferred
• Every other weekend required
• Floating to similar Med Surg/Telemetry units as needed

Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adult Medical Surgical/Telemetry patients
• Perform thorough head-to-toe assessments
• Administer IV medications, including heparin and Lasix drips, IVP metoprolol, diltiazem, and insulin
• Provide postoperative care and monitor patient recovery
• Manage wound care, drains, wound vacs, and ostomies
• Care for patients with NG/G tubes and those receiving parenteral nutrition
• Manage PICC lines, midlines, HD catheters, Foley catheters, nephrostomy tubes, and suprapubic catheters
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds to promote quality patient care
• Document patient care accurately using Altera/Allscripts Sunrise EMR

Requirements

• Active RN License (must be in hand at the time of submission)
• Minimum recent Medical Surgical/Telemetry experience
• Strong IV medication administration skills
• Experience with postoperative care and telemetry patients
• Ability to float to comparable Med Surg/Telemetry units

Required Certifications

• Active RN License
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• Core Mandatory Exam – Nursing
• Core Mandatory Part I
• Core Mandatory Part II (Nursing)
• Core Mandatory Part III
• Medical Surgical–Telemetry Competency
• Med Surg Tele – Skills
• RN Pharmacology Assessment

Unit Details

• 48-bed Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit
• Average daily census: 27 patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratios:
  • Days: 1:5
  • Nights: 1:6
• Unit secretary available from 7:00 AM–11:00 PM
• Patient Care Technicians available
• Remote telemetry monitoring
• Hoyer lifts, bladder scanners, vein finders, and automated blood pressure machines

• No designated scrub color (closed-toe shoes required; Crocs not permitted)
• HCA experience is a plus but not required
