Description

Travel RN – Telemetry (Surgical/Neuro)

Unit: Telemetry – Surgical/Neuro (4th Floor, 48 beds)
Shift: 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM–7:30 PM or 7:00 PM–7:30 AM)
Ratios: 1:5
Certifications Required: ACLS, BLS
Experience Required:
- Telemetry experience
- Ability to read and interpret basic telemetry strips
- Experience with general surgery, orthopedic surgery, spinal surgery, CVA, and TIA patients
- Cerner experience strongly preferred (limited orientation)
Patient Population:
- COVID
- Respiratory conditions
- GI disorders
- Diabetes
- Stroke (CVA/TIA)
- General medical
- Orthopedic and spinal surgery patients
Telemetry:
- Remote telemetry monitoring
- Tele techs monitor strips
- RN must interpret and sign telemetry strips at least once per shift
Drips:
- No titratable drips
- Fixed-rate Cardizem infusions
Support Staff:
- Charge RN (no patient assignment)
- House Supervisor
- CNA ratio: 1:10–15
- RT available for CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow O₂, and breathing treatments
Weekend Requirement: 2 weekends every 4 weeks
Holiday Requirement: Rotation for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's (2 holidays + 1 holiday eve or vice versa)
Floating:
- May float to East Campus
- May float to PCU if qualified
Scrubs: Navy Blue
Orientation: 1 shift on the unit
Scheduling: Self-scheduling with manager approval and balancing

Ideal Candidate

2+ years of Telemetry/Med-Surg experience
Comfortable caring for surgical, neuro, and medical telemetry patients
Confident interpreting telemetry rhythms
Familiar with Cerner EMR
Flexible with floating and weekend rotations
