Certified Surgical Technologist (OR) – Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepared and maintained sterile operating rooms, instruments, supplies, and surgical equipment for a variety of procedures.
• Assisted surgeons during General, Gynecology, Vascular, Thoracic, Orthopedic (including Total Joints), Neuro/Spine, and Trauma surgeries.
• Passed instruments, sutures, and supplies while maintaining a sterile field throughout surgical procedures.
• Performed instrument, sponge, and sharps counts before, during, and after surgery to ensure patient safety.
• Positioned, prepped, and draped patients according to surgical and aseptic protocols.
• Operated and troubleshot surgical equipment while anticipating the needs of the surgical team.
• Assisted with specimen handling, labeling, and transport according to facility policy.
• Precepted new staff and maintained compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, and operating room standards.

Job Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of current CST experience (required, non-negotiable).
• Experience in General, GYN, Vascular, Thoracic, Orthopedic (including Total Joints), Neuro/Head & Spine, and Trauma surgeries.
• Travel experience required (first-time travelers will not be considered).
• Must be able to work independently.
• Must be able to precept other staff members.
• NBSTSA certification required (NCCT not accepted).
• Must be willing to take call, including weekends and holidays.
• Must have a personal vehicle.
