Description

Location: Spokane, WA (on-site)
Assignment dates: Jul 27, 2026 – Sep 28, 2026 (coverage not needed beyond end of September)
Schedule: Nights | 4x12s | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (weekends required/variable)
Hours: 48 hours/week approved • No on-call

Position Summary

We’re seeking an experienced NICU Registered Nurse to join a high-acuity neonatal team providing specialized care to critically ill and premature newborns. This role supports a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment focused on evidence-based practice, safety, and family-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct NICU nursing care to neonates with varying acuity levels
  • Perform comprehensive assessments, develop/update care plans, and monitor patient progress
  • Administer medications, fluids, blood/blood products, and supportive therapies as ordered
  • Manage and monitor neonatal respiratory support (e.g., HFNC, CPAP/Bubble CPAP, high-frequency ventilation, ventilators as applicable)
  • Support central line/arterial line care and hemodynamic monitoring as needed
  • Provide feeding support (bottle/breast/gavage), thermoregulation, phototherapy, and developmental care
  • Educate and support families/caregivers; collaborate closely with providers and NICU support services
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the facility’s charting system (Epic)

  • Typical ratios: 1:1, 1:2, 1:3
  • Patient population: Neonates
  • Floating: Yes — may float as needed (peds units limited to patients under age 2); travelers float first
  • Interdisciplinary support includes respiratory therapy, pharmacy, social services, radiology, interpretation services, and rapid response teams

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license (WA or Compact) in hand at time of submission
  • 2+ years recent NICU experience
  • BLS (required)
  • NRP (required)
  • Epic experience required
