Psychiatric Registered Nurse (Psych RN) – Roles & Responsibilities

• Provided direct nursing care to adult patients with acute psychiatric and behavioral health disorders in an inpatient behavioral health setting.
• Completed comprehensive psychiatric assessments, monitored mental status, and developed individualized patient care plans.
• Administered psychotropic medications and other prescribed treatments while monitoring patient responses and adverse reactions.
• Implemented therapeutic communication, crisis intervention, and de-escalation techniques to manage behavioral emergencies.
• Performed suicide, self-harm, and violence risk assessments while maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment.
• Collaborated with psychiatrists, social workers, therapists, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate treatment and discharge planning.
• Maintained accurate documentation using paper charting and HCS for medication administration and physician orders.
• Floated to all adult behavioral health units as needed and ensured continuity of high-quality patient care.

Job Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of Psychiatric RN experience.
• Active RN State License.
• Active BLS Certification.
• Experience in an adult inpatient behavioral health setting.
• Ability to float to all psychiatric units.
