Trauma ICU Registered Nurse (TICU RN)
 

Location: Skyline Medical Center – Nashville, TN
Unit: Trauma Intensive Care Unit (TICU)
Shift: 19:00 – 07:00 (Night Shift)
Contract Length: 13weeks
Positions Available: 2
Radius Rule: 50-mile radius (local candidates not eligible)
 

Position Summary

Skyline Medical Center is seeking experienced Trauma ICU Registered Nurses (RN) to join a high-acuity 20-bed Trauma Intensive Care Unit. The TICU provides care for critically ill and injured patients requiring advanced life support and continuous monitoring. Nurses in this unit must demonstrate strong critical care skills, trauma experience, and the ability to manage rapidly changing patient conditions in a fast-paced environment.
 

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, high-acuity nursing care to ICU and trauma patients
• Manage patients requiring ventilators, CRRT, SLED, EVDs, and advanced hemodynamic monitoring (EV 1000)
• Perform and assist with invasive procedures including:
  • Central line insertion
  • Arterial line placement
  • Lumbar punctures
  • Chest tube management
  • External ventricular drain (EVD) insertion
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Meditech
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary trauma and critical care teams
• Monitor and respond to changes in patient condition in real time
• Ensure compassionate, patient-centered care for patients and families
• Float to Med-Surg or other units as needed based on staffing demands (contract staff are first to float)

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Current BLS certification
• Current ACLS certification
• Minimum ICU experience required
• Strong critical care skills in high-acuity environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Trauma ICU experience strongly preferred
• Experience with advanced critical care equipment and procedures
• Prior experience in a Level I or Level II trauma center

Unit Details

• Bed Capacity: 20 beds
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 2:1 (may be 1:1 based on acuity)
• Staffing Support: Occasional nurse externs functioning as techs
• EMR System: Meditech
• Equipment: Ventilators, CRRT, SLED, EV1000, traction systems
• Schedule: 4-week self-scheduling cycles with manager adjustments for coverage
• Weekend Requirement: Minimum 4 weekend shifts per schedule

Dress Code

• Navy blue scrubs (top and bottom required)
