Job Description:
We are seeking an expert, highly adaptable Stepdown Registered Nurse for a 13-week day-shift travel assignment at Deaconess Midtown Hospital. Located on a blended 19-bed Cardiac Neuro unit, this role is under the leadership of a seasoned manager with the lowest turnover rate in the entire organization. Facility Details & Unit Highlights:
- Facility: Deaconess Midtown Hospital (A premier regional teaching facility)
- Unit: Blended Cardiac Neuro Floor (8 Stepdown beds / 11 Med/Surg/Tele beds)
- Patient Ratios: 1:5 to 1:6 on Day Shift (Stepdown nurses will care for MS/T patients as needed)
- Charting System: Epic EMR (Required)
- Dress Code: Solid Navy Blue scrubs (No agency or competing logos)
Clinical Scope & Responsibilities:
- Manage intermediate-level cardiac and neuro populations including post-cath/stent interventions, pacemaker placements, STEMI/NSTEMI, CVAs, seizures, stable TBIs, and DKA.
- Safely initiate, manage, and titrate critical unit drips: Cardizem, Amiodarone, Cardene, Nitro, Insulin, and Heparin.
- Perform high-level assessments, manage chest tubes, insert PIVs, and pull TR bands/manage femoral post-cath access sites.
- Maintain network flexibility with potential cross-campus floating to the nearby Newburgh (IN) or Henderson (KY) facilities (2-hour advanced notice provided).
Requirements:
- Experience Options: Minimum 2 years of solid Stepdown experience plus 1 completed travel contract OR 5 years of solid Stepdown experience if you are a first-time traveler.
- Active Compact RN License.
- Required Certifications: AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS.
- Onboarding Competencies: Must be prepared to complete an Epic check-off class and pass a mandatory Telemetry/12-Lead EKG interpretation test during orientation.
- Strict Radius Rule: Permanent tax address must be 40+ miles away from the Midtown campus (no local candidates accepted).
- High level of dependability: Attendance policy strictly enforces that 3 call-ins can lead to contract cancellation.
