Description
Job Title: Respiratory Therapist (Travel)
Contract Length: 26 Weeks (13-week contracts accepted)
Shift: Nights – 3x12 Hours (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Facility Type: 426-Bed Short-Term Acute Care Hospital (Level II Trauma Center)
Charting System: Epic
Floating: Required between Bridgeport Hospital and Milford Campus (including NICU & Pediatric units)
Parking: Free
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapy experience in an acute care setting.
- Travel experience is required.
- Minimum 1 year of Level III or Level IV NICU experience (required).
- Level II Trauma experience required (Level I preferred).
- Draeger Vent experience is required.
- NICU experience is preferred but not mandatory.
- Must be willing to work every other weekend and holidays as needed.
- Travelers may be asked to assist with orienting new hires or students.
Required Certifications
- BLS
- CRT or RRT (RRT strongly preferred)
- Connecticut Respiratory Therapy License
- ACLS (preferred)
- NRP (preferred)
- PALS (preferred)
Required Skills & Experience
- Ventilator management, including Draeger Vent, High Frequency Jet Ventilator, High Frequency Oscillator, CPAP/BiPAP, IMV/SIMV.
- Neonatal and Pediatric respiratory care.
- Oscillating ventilators.
- Intubation assistance.
- ABG interpretation and arterial blood gas collection.
- Oxygen therapy, aerosol treatments, inhalation medications, airway management, suctioning, and tracheostomy care.
Floating Expectations
Candidates should be comfortable floating between the Bridgeport Hospital and Milford Campus, supporting NICU, Pediatric, and other respiratory care units based on patient census and staffing needs.
