Position Overview

Cherokee Nation is seeking an experienced Level 3 Registered Nurse (RN) – Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to provide exceptional, evidence-based care to critically ill patients at W. W. Hastings Hospital. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical judgment, excellent critical thinking skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced intensive care environment while collaborating with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill adult patients in the Intensive Care Unit.
• Perform detailed patient assessments and continuously monitor changes in patient condition.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and specialized treatments according to physician orders.
• Operate and monitor advanced ICU equipment including cardiac monitors, ventilators, infusion pumps, and other life-support devices.
• Recognize and respond promptly to medical emergencies using evidence-based critical care practices.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals.
• Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, treatments, and outcomes in the electronic medical record.
• Educate patients and family members regarding treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions when appropriate.
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention standards, patient safety protocols, and hospital policies.
• Participate in patient handoffs and interdisciplinary rounds to ensure continuity of care.

Minimum Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state license as required).
• Minimum 3 years of recent ICU nursing experience preferred.
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Strong experience managing critically ill patients requiring intensive monitoring and intervention.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and critical thinking abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment.

Required Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (AHA)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – AHA
• Additional certifications may be required based on facility policies.
