Schedule

• Days, 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM
• Part-time, 4x10-hour shifts

Position Overview
The Rad Tech 2 assists cardiologists in performing invasive and diagnostic/interventional cardiac, vascular, and electrophysiology (EP) procedures, including technical hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation using automated techniques. This role supports patient care throughout procedures in the Cath Lab and collaborates closely with the care team to ensure optimal outcomes.

Essential Functions

• Assist cardiologists in invasive coronary, vascular, and EP diagnostic/therapeutic procedures using specialized techniques
• Set up and operate imaging and electrical equipment, including monophasic and biphasic defibrillators
• Interpret hemodynamic and procedural results, selecting appropriate supplies and equipment based on findings
• Communicate with and educate patients during procedures to reduce anxiety and support focused care
• Recognize and respond to anesthesia needs for sedated or anesthetized patients
• Collaborate with Research RN/Coordinators on lab-based research initiatives
• Direct team members as needed to maintain standards of excellence and optimal patient outcomes
• Train and mentor team members and interact professionally with vendors regarding equipment and supplies
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and evaluate equipment for daily performance and safety
• Manage digital archiving of patient images and reports, including CD creation for information transmission
• Maintain aseptic technique, prepare sterile fields, and assist in passing sterile guidewires, catheters, and devices
• Monitor for and correct deviations from aseptic technique
• Accurately interpret EKGs and alert physicians to irregular activity
• Document and report significant observations, reactions, and care provided

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 3 years of applicable experience
• Strong knowledge of hemodynamic concepts, cardiac anatomy/physiology, and EP concepts and theory
• Competency in moderate sedation administration and protocols
• Advanced EKG interpretation and arrhythmia recognition
• Knowledge of radiation safety and imaging equipment operation
• Sterile table setup, patient preparation/draping, and aseptic technique
• Data analysis related to device implantation and function
• Familiarity with Invasive Cardiology routines
• Basic computer proficiency (word processing, spreadsheets, email, web browser)
• Fluent English (read, write, speak); multicultural sensitivity

Education

• Required: Associate's Degree in a related field, or Certificate of completion from a Radiology Program

Required Certifications & Licensure

• IEMA (Illinois state) License in Radiologic Technology
• ARRT Registration in Radiology
• BLS (American Heart Association)
• ACLS (American Heart Association)

Language

• English (Read, Write, Speak)
