Job Overview:
 

We are actively seeking experienced Medical Surgical Registered Nurses (MS RN) for a 13-week travel assignment at Summa Health Akron Campus, a busy acute care hospital in Akron, Ohio.

This is a fast-paced 36-bed Medical/Surgical Unit caring for adolescent through geriatric patients with a broad range of medical and post-surgical conditions. Candidates must be confident managing diverse patient assignments while delivering high-quality, compassionate care.

• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5–1:6
• Fast-paced surgical and medical floor
• Floating Required
• Travel pairs accepted (must work different schedules)

Responsibilities:
 

As a Medical Surgical RN, you will:

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with medical and surgical conditions.
• Perform thorough patient assessments and continuously monitor patient status.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and treatments safely.
• Care for post-operative patients recovering from various surgical procedures.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
• Collaborate with physicians, case managers, therapists, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Monitor for changes in patient condition and respond appropriately.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnosis, medications, treatments, and discharge planning.
• Maintain accurate documentation in Epic EMR.
• Float to other compatible units as needed.
• Follow infection prevention and patient safety protocols.
• Participate in rapid response situations and emergency interventions when required. 

Requirements:
 

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of recent Medical Surgical RN experience
• Experience in a busy acute care hospital required
• Previous travel experience preferred 

License:

• Active Ohio RN License or Compact RN License (if applicable) 

Certifications:

• BLS (AHA) Required 

Education:

• Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE Accredited Nursing Program 

EMR:

• Epic experience within the last year is REQUIRED 

Scheduling Requirements:

• Night Shift
• 3x12-hour shifts
• Floating Required
• Maximum 7 Days RTO
• No RTO during the first two weeks
• No Block Scheduling Requests
• Candidates requesting block scheduling will be declined
