Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Radiation Oncology (Contract)
Facility: Mount Sinai Beth Israel (MSBI) – Radiation Unit, Union Square
Location: New York, NY
Contract Duration: 08/03/2026 – 11/07/2026
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM | 37.5 Hours/Week
Employment Type: Contract / Part-Time

Job Description:

  • Provide safe, high-quality nursing care to Radiation Oncology patients in an outpatient setting utilizing evidence-based nursing practices.
  • Deliver patient-centered care using the nursing process including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and apply clinical judgment to support treatment and symptom management.
  • Administer and monitor oncology and radiation-related treatments while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Collaborate with physicians, radiation therapists, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Educate patients and caregivers regarding treatment plans, side effects, disease prevention, recovery, and transition of care.
  • Provide ongoing patient teaching and assess readiness to learn throughout the treatment journey.
  • Maintain professional and effective communication with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
  • Support continuity of care through care coordination, discharge planning, and follow-up education.
  • Promote an exceptional patient experience through relationship-centered care and patient engagement initiatives.
  • Perform purposeful patient rounding and proactively address patient concerns and service recovery opportunities.
  • Deliver culturally competent care that respects individual patient preferences and values.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Utilize EPIC EMR for documentation, care coordination, and workflow management.
  • Monitor patient throughput and assist in maintaining efficient clinic operations.
  • Coordinate with leadership to ensure proper supply management and operational support.
  • Escalate patient safety concerns, resource gaps, and operational issues appropriately.
  • Participate in quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and patient safety initiatives.
  • Contribute to peer collaboration, nursing excellence, and professional development activities.
  • Perform charge nurse responsibilities when assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Current BLS Certification (AHA)
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience
  • Mandatory Radiation Oncology experience in an outpatient setting
  • Strong patient assessment and clinical decision-making skills
  • Experience with interdisciplinary collaboration and patient education
  • EPIC EMR experience highly preferred
