Job Summary

Baptist Health is seeking an experienced Interventional Radiology (IR) Registered Nurse to join its Level II Trauma Center. The IR RN provides specialized nursing care for both inpatient and outpatient patients undergoing minimally invasive image-guided procedures. The ideal candidate will have experience with moderate sedation, ICU-level patient care, medication titration, and caring for patients before, during, and after complex interventional procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care before, during, and after interventional radiology procedures.
  • Perform patient assessments and prepare patients for image-guided interventions.
  • Administer and monitor moderate sedation.
  • Monitor patients during procedures, including hemodynamic and neurological status.
  • Titrate medications and manage arterial lines as clinically indicated.
  • Assist physicians during complex vascular and interventional procedures.
  • Provide post-procedure recovery care and patient education.
  • Document patient care accurately using Cerner EMR.
  • Collaborate with physicians, technologists, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Experience in Interventional Radiology or a comparable procedural environment
  • ICU nursing experience
  • Experience with:
    • Moderate sedation
    • Arterial line management
    • Medication titration
    • Chest tube care

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of IR experience accepted.
  • First-time travelers are welcome with at least 2 years of overall RN experience.

Unit Information

  • 7 Pre/Post Procedure Bays
  • 2 Interventional Procedure Suites
  • Patient Ratios:
    • 1:1 during procedures
    • Up to 1:3 in the pre/post recovery area
  • Charge Nurse support available

Technology

  • EMR: Cerner
  • IV Pumps: Plum 360
  • Medication Dispensing: Omnicell
  • Patient Monitors: Spacelabs

Schedule & Call

  • Monday–Friday
  • 6:30 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Four 10-hour shifts per week with a rotating weekday off
  • Alternate schedule option of three 12-hour shifts may be available
  • On-call rotation typically:
    • Every 4th weekend
    • One weeknight per week (staffing dependent)

Floating

  • May float only to other procedural departments, such as Cath Lab pre/post areas, when competencies align.

Orientation

  • Two shifts on the unit
  • One to two onboarding/education shifts

Dress Code

  • Any color scrubs permitted
  • Green procedural scrubs provided for procedures
