Description

Flagstar Staffing, Inc. is seeking a skilled and credentialed EEG Technologist to perform electroneurodiagnostic procedures on-site at a federal medical center. The Technologist operates the electroencephalograph and related devices, including evoked potential (EP) equipment, to record and analyze the electrical activity of the brain in support of neurological diagnosis and treatment.
Working closely with physicians from the Neurology Service and the Epilepsy Center of Excellence, the Technologist independently performs routine, non-standard, and specialized procedures, and conducts long-term and continuous video-EEG monitoring for patients with complex and undiagnosed conditions. This is a single full-time position (1.0 FTE) serving a high-acuity clinical environment.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Pay Rate: $48.00 per hour.
  • Health & Welfare (H&W) Fringe: $5.09 per hour, provided in accordance with the applicable Service Contract Act (SCA) wage determination for this federal contract.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently perform routine and non-standard EEG and EP procedures, including awake, sleep, portable, and electrocerebral silence (ECS) studies.
  • Independently perform routine and specialized neurodiagnostic procedures.
  • Conduct routine long-term monitoring (LTM/CCTV – EEG monitoring), including extended 10/20 electrode placement.
  • Operate sophisticated equipment and associated electronics to obtain continuous video-EEG monitoring in patients with undiagnosed spells and seizures.
  • Perform on-line analysis of all testing to obtain the data necessary for correct patient diagnosis.
  • Consistently produce high-quality studies for complex and non-routine procedures in demanding settings such as the operating room, research, and intensive care environments.
  • Perform as an expert EEG technologist, maintaining state-of-the-art quality in the principles, practices, and procedures of electroencephalography.
  • Interface with equipment and company representatives and stay current with new techniques and technology.
  • Report specified patient outcome information, such as complications, to the Service Line Chief, and supply quality-improvement data used to analyze practice patterns and support clinical privileging decisions.
  • Follow established laboratory and hospital guidelines, completing required administrative duties for each test performed.
  • Maintain knowledge of, and compliance with, JCAHO/TJC and other regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with inventory of laboratory supplies.

The Technologist must be able to perform procedures independently while working under the direction of the Director of the Epilepsy Center of Excellence or designee.

Qualifications

Licensure & Registration

  • Full, current, and unrestricted license in any U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia. Candidates who hold, or have ever held, a license that was restricted, suspended, revoked, voluntarily surrendered pending action, or denied upon application are not eligible.
  • Registration through the American Board of Registration of EEG, CNIM and EP Technologists (ABRET) or the American Association of Electrodiagnostic Technologists (AAET) is required/strongly preferred.

Certifications & Training

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through an American Heart Association provider; ability to demonstrate competence in CPR.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as applicable to assignment.
  • Ability to complete all required facility onboarding prior to first day of work, including mandatory training (e.g., TMS modules), fingerprinting, background investigation, and identity credentialing (PIV) with two forms of approved photo identification.

Skills & Competencies

  • Technical proficiency in all skills necessary to perform the full range of EEG/EP procedures independently.
  • Ability to speak, understand, read, and write English fluently (as required by 38 U.S.C. §§ 7402(d) and 7407(d)).
  • Demonstrated current and ongoing clinical competence, supported by verifiable evidence of all educational and training experiences.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record systems and accurate documentation practices.

Credentialing & Compliance

  • Successful completion of facility credentialing and privileging prior to performing any services. A minimum review period of approximately 60 calendar days should be anticipated.
  • Maintenance of continuing education units (CEUs) recognized by the applicable accrediting/licensing authority, with documentation provided for privileging and re-privileging.
  • Compliance with all applicable facility medical staff by-laws, rules, regulations, and federal directives governing patient privacy (HIPAA, Privacy Act of 1974), information security, and clinical practice.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Ability to perform all activities of the position without restriction.
  • Moderate physical effort, including lifting/carrying up to 50–100 lbs.
  • Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing and walking.
  • Lifting, positioning, pushing, transferring, and assisting in moving patients.
  • Lifting supplies/equipment and pushing, pulling, or moving heavy equipment/supplies.
  • Manual dexterity and mobility, with considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Intermittent exertion when performing examinations.

Coverage & Scheduling Expectations

  • This position represents 1.0 Full Time Equivalent (a minimum of 80 hours every two weeks, excluding holidays). Reliable, consistent on-site coverage is essential to the role. In the event a scheduled shift cannot be completed, replacement coverage and immediate notification to the designated facility representative are required.
This is a 1 year, VA contract with options to renew for 1 year at a time, could be up to 5 years.
