Sterile Processing Manager – Central Sterile Services | Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee daily operations of the Central Sterile Processing Department (CSPD) across multiple facilities.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop Sterile Processing staff to ensure high-quality performance and regulatory compliance.
• Manage instrument decontamination, assembly, sterilization, storage, and distribution processes.
• Ensure compliance with AAMI, AORN, Joint Commission, and infection prevention standards.
• Develop and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance workflow, efficiency, and patient safety.
• Lead Business Intelligence and Process Engineering initiatives for Central Sterile Supply and Surgical Suite inventory management.
• Oversee inventory control, supply chain optimization, supply substitutions, and product recall management.
• Collaborate with Surgical Services, Operating Room leadership, Infection Prevention, Materials Management, and clinical teams to optimize operations.
• Monitor departmental quality metrics, productivity, financial performance, and regulatory compliance.
• Manage staffing, scheduling, education, competency assessments, and performance evaluations.
• Support implementation of new technologies, system enhancements, and operational best practices.
• Provide leadership coverage for a 24/7 operation, including call, weekends, and holidays as required.

Required Documents / Certifications

• CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician)
• CHL (Certified Healthcare Leader)
• BLS Certification (AHA)
• Minimum 10 years of Sterile Processing experience
• Minimum 5 years of Sterile Processing Management experience
• Strong leadership, team management, and staff development experience
• Experience managing sterile processing operations, surgical instrumentation, and inventory systems
