Description
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – Acute Care Hospital | Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive respiratory care to adult and neonatal patients under physician orders.
- Perform diagnostic evaluations including blood gas interpretation, pulmonary assessments, and cardiopulmonary testing.
- Administer and manage oxygen therapy, aerosol treatments, and ventilatory support.
- Manage mechanical ventilation using Dräger ventilators and other advanced respiratory equipment.
- Provide airway management including intubation support, suctioning, and tracheostomy care.
- Monitor and adjust ventilator settings based on patient condition and clinical protocols.
- Deliver care for both NICU and adult patient populations, including critically ill patients.
- Administer respiratory medications and therapies as prescribed.
- Utilize Cerner EMR for documentation and clinical charting.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize respiratory outcomes.
- Educate patients and families on respiratory treatments and rehabilitation.
- Respond to emergency situations requiring rapid respiratory intervention.
Required Documents / Certifications
- Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) License (CRT not accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience
- BLS (AHA) Certification
- ACLS Certification (AHA)
- PALS Certification (AHA)
- NRP Certification
- Experience with NICU and Adult Critical Care
- Experience using Dräger ventilators
- Experience with Cerner EMR
- Must live 100+ miles from facility (travel requirement)
