Unit: 7NE – Orthopedic/Telemetry

• Beds: 22

Nurse-to-Patient Ratio

• 1:5–6

Required Certification

• BLS

Required Experience

• Strong Orthopedic nursing experience is required
• Must have Total Joint Replacement experience
  • Candidates with only fracture experience will not be considered

Common Patient Population

• Total Joint Replacements
• Orthopedic Surgery
• Fractures
• Telemetry patients

Clinical Skills

Drips

• No titratable drips required

Telemetry

• Telemetry patients are admitted to the unit
• RNs are not required to interpret telemetry strips

Unit Support

• Charge Nurse available 24/7
• 3 CNAs per shift
  • CNA ratio approximately 1:7–8

Respiratory Support

Available as needed:

• CPAP
• BiPAP
• High-Flow Oxygen

Schedule

• Night Shift

Weekend Requirement

• Every other weekend or
• Two weekend shifts per schedule

Holiday Requirement

• Travelers participate in the holiday rotation

Floating

May float to:

• 7E
• 7W
• 10E
• 10W

Call

• Call/standby requirements not specified

Dress Code

• Royal Blue scrubs

Orientation

• 1–2 orientation shifts with a preceptor
