Schedule

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Shift: Nights (1800–0600)
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
• Weekend Requirement: Every 3rd weekend (rotating)
• Holiday Requirement: 2 of 3 winter holidays and every other holiday
• Shift Notes: Primarily 12-hour night shifts; occasional schedule changes discussed with traveler in advance

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 1 year
• License Required: Yes

Required Certifications

• ACLS (AHA)
• BLS (AHA)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• PALS (AHA)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) via NBRC
  • CRT is NOT accepted

Orientation

• Orientation Hours: 8 hours
• Department Orientation:
  • Day 1: Equipment training with Lead RT
  • Day 2: Department orientation/shadowing
  • Day 3: Orientation on assigned shift

Charting System

• Cerner

Patient Population

• Primarily Adults
• Minimal Pediatrics and Neonates (ER/Newborn)
• RT may attend high-risk deliveries (low frequency)

Work Areas

• Inpatient Units
• Emergency Department
• ICU
• Medical-Surgical Floors
• Facility Emergencies in Clinic

Daily Workload

• Approximately 20–25 treatments per RT per shift
• Typically 2 RTs per shift

RT Responsibilities

• Respiratory treatments
• ABGs
• EKGs
• BiPAP/CPAP management
• Ventilator management
• Intubation assistance (not independent intubation)
• Insert King Airway during emergencies until provider arrives
• Accurate and timely Cerner documentation
