Unit Overview

• 8-bed LDRP/Antepartum unit
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
• First-time travelers considered upon review

Patient Population

• Labor & Delivery patients (35+ weeks gestation)
• Antepartum
• Postpartum
• Gynecology surgical patients
• Newborn care

Nurse-to-Patient Ratios

• Laboring patients: 1:1
• Couplets, Antepartum, Surgical: 1:3

Required Certifications

• BLS
• NRP
• Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM)

Required Skills

Candidates should have experience with:

• Labor & Delivery patient care
• Non-Stress Tests (NSTs)
• OB triage
• Postpartum assessments
• Newborn assessments and care
• Nursery care
• Fetal heart monitoring

Unit Support

• Charge RN (takes patient assignments as needed)
• Resource RN
• Respiratory Therapy support
• RN-performed blood draws
• Bedside and nurses' station fetal heart monitoring
• OB physician with a 30-minute callback response time

Technology & Equipment

• EMR: EPIC
• IV Pumps: Alaris
• Medication Dispensing: Pyxis

Floating

May float to inpatient units to:

• Serve as a sitter
• Assist in a CNA role

Orientation

• New Employee Orientation (NEO)
• Minimum of one unit shift with preceptor to learn workflow

Scheduling

• 36 hours per week
• 12-hour night shifts (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Every other weekend rotation
• On-call requirements vary by contract
• Rotating holidays
• Up to 7 days of requested time off (RTO) may be approved
