- Unit: Intensive Care Unit – Neonatal Level II, Meridian Hospital, Floor 3
- NICU Level: Level 2B (32 weeks gestation and greater)
- Beds: 13
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:2–3
- Required Certifications: BLS, NRP, STABLE, Cardiac STABLE
- Common Diagnoses/Patient Types: Premature infants (≥32 weeks), late preterm, sepsis, hypoglycemia, oxygen support (NC, HFNC, CPAP), NOWS/NAS, feeding difficulties. Infants requiring mechanical ventilation are stabilized and transferred to Boise.
- Required Experience/Skills: High-risk delivery room resuscitation, IV starts, and lab draw experience.
- Drip Titration: May initiate and manage drips short-term prior to transport to a higher level of care.
- Common Drips: Dopamine, Epinephrine
- Charge Nurse: Yes. Charge RN on each shift (usually with an assignment and covers high-risk deliveries); House Supervisor available 24/7.
- Support Staff: CNA shared across L&D, Postpartum, and NICU approximately 4–5 days/nights per week.
- Neonatal Provider Coverage: Neonatal NP available 24/7.
- Respiratory Equipment: CPAP used routinely; ventilators available for emergency stabilization only.
- Monitor/Telemetry Techs: No
- Shifts: 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM–7:00 PM / 7:00 PM–7:00 AM). Staff may not work more than five consecutive shifts. Traveler scheduling requests are accommodated when possible outside approved time off.
- Weekend Requirement: Based on unit needs.
- Holiday Requirement: Based on unit needs.
- Call/Standby: None.
- Floating: Required to float to comparable NICU units within the valley (Nampa NICU and Boise NICU) for like assignments. Travelers will not be assigned ventilated patients in Boise if they do not manage vents at Meridian.
- Scrubs: Blue scrubs provided by the unit.
- Orientation: Typically 2–3 shifts, customized to traveler experience.
