Travel CNA / Patient Care Technician – Behavioral Health | Nights | Washington
Position: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) / Patient Care Technician (Behavioral Health)
Shift: 12-Hour Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Schedule: 36 hours/week | Every other weekend (2 weekends/month)
Contract Length: 8–9 Weeks
EMR: Epic (preferred)
Facility: 226-bed nonprofit community hospital with a 30-bed Behavioral Health unit
Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dependable CNA/Patient Care Technician to join a Behavioral Health team. The ideal candidate will have experience in acute care, long-term care (LTC), or skilled nursing (SNF), and be comfortable caring for patients with psychiatric and behavioral health needs.

Patient Population
- Schizophrenia
- Schizoaffective disorder
- Bipolar disorder
- Major depressive disorder
- Suicidal ideation
- Dementia with behavioral disturbances
- Patients with diabetes
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Provide bathing, toileting, turning, repositioning, and mobility assistance
- Assist with feeding and meal support
- Obtain and document vital signs
- Perform Foley catheter and perineal care
- Complete 15-minute patient safety checks
- Provide 1:1 observation for patients on suicide or fall precautions
- Assist with patient admissions
- Support behavioral de-escalation efforts
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Float to Medical-Surgical units or serve as a patient sitter when needed
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Acute Care, LTC, or SNF
- Behavioral Health/Psychiatric experience preferred
- Active CNA certification (if required by state)
- Current BLS Certification
- CPI or MOAB Certification required prior to submission
- Epic experience preferred
- Strong communication, flexibility, adaptability, and patient-centered care skills
Schedule & Additional Information
- Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- 36 guaranteed hours per week
- 2 weekends per month required
- No on-call
- Floating required (Medical-Surgical units or sitter assignments)
- Scrubs: Any solid color (no graphics, logos, or designs)
