Registered Nurse (RN) – Med Surg/Telemetry

Location: Columbus, OH
Shift: 3x12-Hour Days, Nights, or Rotating Days/Nights

Join a dynamic Med Surg/Telemetry team providing care for adult oncology and medical-surgical patients in a secure hospital corrections unit. Oncology experience is preferred but not required.

Must Have Requirements:

• Active RN license
• 3+ years of recent Med Surg/Telemetry experience
• EPIC charting experience required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required

Preferred Experience:

• Oncology nursing experience
• Strong telemetry and acute care background

Unit Highlights:

• Corrections unit serving Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections (ODRC) inmates
• Secure, locked unit with Corrections Officers present at all times
• Float between Medical-Surgical and Progressive Care (PCU) units as needed
• Nurse-to-patient ratios:
  • PCU: 1:3
  • Med Surg: 1:4–5

Clinical Skills Required:

• Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Blood product administration
• Central line, PICC, and peripheral IV management
• IV starts and phlebotomy
• Heparin protocols and non-titratable cardiac drips
• PCA management
• IV insulin protocols
• Feeding tube care
• Renal failure and pre/post-hemodialysis care
• Respiratory care including CPAP/BiPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), tracheostomy care, oxygen therapy, and ABG interpretation

Systems Used:

• EPIC
• Pyxis

Patient Population:

• Adult oncology patients (solid tumors and hematology)
• Oncology workups
• Medical-Surgical patients with diagnoses including COPD, sepsis, pneumonia, abnormal labs, post-surgical care, and other acute medical conditions

Scheduling Notes:

• Weekend requirements vary by unit.
• Rotating Day/Night contracts may include days, nights, or a combination based on departmental staffing needs. Schedules are reviewed every four weeks but are not guaranteed.
