• Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• 3x12-hour shifts

Position Overview
The Clinical Resource Unit (CRU) Float Pool RN provides specialized nursing care across multiple inpatient units including Medical-Oncology, Surgical-Orthopedic, Cardiovascular Care Unit, Progressive Care Unit, Mental Health Unit, and Acute Rehab. This role requires a highly adaptable, experienced nurse comfortable managing diverse patient populations in a fast-paced environment. Common diagnoses include coronary artery disease, MI, dysrhythmia, CHF, strokes, cancer, cellulitis, post-surgical care, and chest pain.

Key Responsibilities

• Float to multiple inpatient units and provide care to diverse patient populations
• Complete initial assessments, develop and modify individualized care plans based on patient and family needs
• Administer medications per the 5 Rights (Right Patient, Medication, Route, Dose, Time)
• Manage care for acute and chronically ill cardiac and pulmonary patients
• Perform IV venipuncture, blood administration, and monitor labs
• Prepare patients for procedures and provide post-operative care for complex surgical patients
• Maintain patient safety priorities including fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, and isolation precautions
• Conduct bedside shift reports, hourly rounding, and update patient communication boards
• Delegate tasks to HCTs and validate completion throughout the shift
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate and optimize patient care
• Educate patients and families on care plans, medications, and discharge instructions
• Use critical thinking to identify and act on changes in patient status
• Ensure team huddles occur and actively participate
• Handle conflict management and maintain professional communication across all units
• Document all care accurately using EMR

Education

• Required: College Diploma in Nursing (Associate's Degree minimum)

Required Certifications & Licensure

• Active Illinois RN License in good standing
• BLS (American Heart Association)

Language
