Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Location: Columbus, OH
Shift: 3x12-Hour Days, Nights, or Rotating Days/Nights

We are seeking an experienced PCU Registered Nurse to join a specialized Oncology/Progressive Care team in Columbus, OH. Oncology experience is preferred but not required. Candidates must have EPIC charting experience and be comfortable working in a secure corrections unit.

Must Have Requirements

• Active RN license
• 3+ years of recent PCU/Stepdown experience
• EPIC charting experience required
• BLS certification required

Preferred Qualifications

• Oncology nursing experience
• Strong telemetry and progressive care background

Unit Highlights

• Secure corrections unit serving Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections (ODRC) inmates
• Locked unit with Corrections Officers on-site
• Float between PCU and Oncology Medical-Surgical units as needed
• Nurse-to-patient ratios:
  • PCU: 1:3
  • Med Surg: 1:4–5

Clinical Skills Required

• Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Blood product administration
• Central line, PICC, and peripheral IV management
• IV starts and phlebotomy
• Heparin protocols and non-titratable cardiac drips
• PCA (Patient-Controlled Analgesia)
• IV insulin protocols
• Feeding tube care
• Renal failure and pre/post-hemodialysis care
• Respiratory care including CPAP/BiPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), tracheostomy care, oxygen therapy, and ABG interpretation

Systems Used

• EPIC
• Pyxis

Patient Population

• Adult oncology patients with solid tumors and hematologic conditions
• Oncology workup admissions
• Patients with a history of cancer admitted for medical or surgical conditions
• Acute medical patients with diagnoses including COPD, sepsis, pneumonia, abnormal labs, and post-surgical care

Scheduling

• Weekend shifts as required by the unit.
• Rotating Day/Night contracts may include days, nights, or a combination of both based on staffing needs. Schedules are reviewed every four weeks and are subject to change.
