Pay Package (Travel)
- Weekly Gross: $2,406.00
- Weekly Taxable: $1,160.00
- Weekly Non-Taxable: $1,246.00
Local Pay Rate
- $48.00/hour (candidates within 60 miles of facility)
Schedule
- Days, Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
- 5x8-hour shifts
- 40 guaranteed hours/week
- No weekends, no call
Position Overview
The Cytotechnologist screens and evaluates gynecological and non-gynecological cytology slides, collaborates with pathologists to ensure diagnostic accuracy, and assists with Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) adequacy assessments across various hospital procedure areas. This role is based in the Anatomic Pathology department at Parkland Health, a public health system committed to advancing health equity.
Key Responsibilities
- Screen Pap smears and non-gynecological slides and report results per established protocol
- Review patient history in association with cytology slide screening
- Document workload and submit weekly reports for supervisory review
- Review discrepant cases with Pathologist to improve quality of patient care
- Maintain False Negative Proportion (FNP) within ±1–2% of lab average, not to exceed 5% overall
- Maintain 80–100% Diagnostic Correlation with the Pathologist
- Maintain gynecological statistical analysis rates within ±5% of overall lab rates
- Adhere to individual workload limits set by supervisor based on performance appraisals
- Complete special assignments as designated by supervisor in a timely, professional manner
- Assist with FNA adequacy assessments throughout various hospital procedure areas
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years of Cytotechnologist experience (required)
- ROSE/FNA adequacy assessment experience (highly preferred)
- Previous travel experience (highly preferred)
Education
- Required: Bachelor's degree in a Science-related field
- If Bachelor's is in a non-science field: Master's degree in a Science-related field required
Required Certifications & Licensure
- CT-ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists) OR
- CT-IAC (International Accreditation as Cytotechnologist)
