Pay Breakdown:
- Weekly Gross: $2,700
- W2: $30.4/hr.
- Stipend: $1,484 Weekly
Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) team in Rochester, NY. In this role, you will provide exceptional post-operative nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia, ensuring safe, timely recovery while delivering patient-centered care in a fast-paced surgical environment.
The RN will care for patients in both Phase I PACU and Phase II Recovery, monitoring patients throughout the immediate post-anesthesia period, assessing for complications, managing pain, and preparing patients for discharge or transfer. The position supports a variety of surgical specialties, including Endoscopy/Laparoscopic, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Orthopedic Spine, and Orthopedic Total Joint procedures.
Duties
Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia in Phase I and Phase II PACU.
Perform ongoing patient assessments, monitor vital signs, airway status, neurological function, and pain management.
Recognize and respond promptly to post-operative complications and changes in patient condition.
Administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments in accordance with physician orders and nursing standards.
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary care teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Educate patients and families regarding post-operative care, discharge instructions, and recovery expectations.
Maintain accurate, timely documentation within the electronic medical record.
Adhere to hospital policies, infection prevention protocols, and patient safety standards.
Requirements
- NY State RN license - Required
- Minimum 1 year of recent PACU experience - Required
- RNs need to have a mandatory competency with phlebotomy as well as placing IVs as this is a required skill
- Current BLS AHA, ACLS, PALS certifications - Required
